This is a great website for second grade math. It correlates extremely well with standard number two which says, “Fluently add and subtract within 20 using mental strategies”. This website has over 40 different math games, that are very fun. This would be very useful during “computer time” during the school day. I would give my students a list of websites that they could go on for computer time and I would definitely include this one. There are also different subject

areas. This website would provide great practice for students in a fun way.

Elements of a Story is an interactive website where students can learn about all of the “ingredients” that make up a story. It helps the student identify the setting, characters, climax, resolution, etc. They can listen to stories out loud and then they see how all of the literary elements go together to make a big story. This website correlates with the English/Language Arts ALCOS standard number one, which states, “Ask and answer such questions as who, what, where, when, why, and how to demonstrate understanding of key details in a text.” To assess what the student has learned using this website, I would have them write their own story and map each of the literary elements. Then I would partner them up and have them peer review each others’ papers.

Science Kids is an educational and interactive website for second grade Science. It has games as well as interactive science experiments. This is a great tool because it allows students to perform the experiment on their own. This website correlates with ALCOS second grade science standard number 4, which states, “Provide evidence that some changes in matter caused by heating or cooling can be reversed (e.g., heating or freezing of water) and some changes are irreversible (e.g., baking a cake, boiling an egg)”. I would probably pair this interactive with areal experiment such as a mug cake in the microwave or something like that.
